
Golden Flashes Win Inaugural Muirfield Shootout

DUBLIN, Ohio - The Kent State Herb Page men's golf team captured the inaugural Muirfield Shootout on Monday, carding a 36-hole total of 579 (+3) to claim the first championship in event history at The Country Club at Muirfield Village.
The Golden Flashes finished one stroke clear of a three-way tie for second between Michigan State, Miami (OH) and Eastern Michigan (+4) in the 13-team field.
Kent State opened the day with a morning round of 296, in sixth place, before turning in an afternoon round of 283 to seal the win.
First-year Christoffer Leuenhagen and sophomore Darcy Hogg tied for fourth at even-par 144, pacing the Golden Flashes individually. Leuenhagen opened with a 1-over 73 before firing a 1-under 71 in the afternoon, while Hogg closed with a 3-under 69 after an opening 75.
Senior James Newton finished tied for 16th at 146 (+2) with matching rounds of 73. First-year Liam Curtis tied for 27th at 149 (+5), carding a 78-71. Sophomore Nolan Haynes tied for 39th at 151 (+7) with rounds of 79-72, and sophomore Isaiah Ibit rounded out the Kent State lineup, tied for 46th at 153 (+9).
