AKRON, Ohio — Pole vaulter Kyla Taress cleared a personal-best height of 12'-11.75" on Thursday afternoon as competition at the Akron Last Chance Invitational came to an end.
Taress' PR was good for second in the women's pole vault and puts her ninth on Kent State all-time performance list in the event.
Ana Fernandez Moiron and Cooper DeFrange earned event victories for the Golden Flashes. Fernandez Moiron ran a season-best 2:14.83 in the women's 800-meter run, while DeFrange cleared 6'-1.25" to win the men's high jump and added a third-place finish in the men's long jump (21'-9"). Mason Murphy also cleared 6'-1.25" in the high jump and finished second as a result of needing more attempts at the height.
Three additional Flashes had runner-up showings during the course of the two-day meet. Maya Justice soared 18'-8" in the women's long jump, Alexa Nestor recorded a height of 5'-5.25" in the women's high jump and Gabriel Wise clocked a season-best time of 1:54.32 in the men's 800m.
At Baldwin Wallace's Harrison Dillard Twilight on Friday, Camille Dunifer won the women's 800m with a personal-best time of 2:10.07.
Kent State will compete at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships next week in Muncie, Indiana.
