Stayer Named Volleyball Assistant Coach

KENT, Ohio – Former Mid-American Conference student-athlete Maddie Stayer has been hired as an assistant coach for the Kent State volleyball program for the 2026 campaign, head coach Haley Eckerman announced.
"I'm glad to have Maddie join our staff," Eckerman said. "She brings so much knowledge offensively as a former setter that I am excited to see the work she and the setters are going to do. As a former player in the MAC, she knows that it's anyone's night every night and her main focus will be to help strategize offensively how we can find success."
Stayer served as an assistant coach and private instructor at Rock City Volleyball Club in Mentor for the past year and has also worked with All American Volleyball Camps.
The Mentor native spent five seasons as a Division I student-athlete with stops at Southern Miss (2020-21), Jacksonville State (2022-23) and Eastern Michigan (2024). Stayer split time at both the right side and setter positions and totaled 536 assists, 346 kills, 298 digs and 112 blocks as a collegian.
Stayer earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Jacksonville State in May 2024.
