Kevin Snyder joined the Kent State football coaching staff in spring 2025 as the linebackers coach, bringing a strong foundation of experience developed across the NFL and Division I collegiate football.
Before arriving in Kent, Snyder spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons at Georgetown University as the Hoyas’ defensive line assistant, where he helped lead player development, defensive game planning, and recruiting within the Patriot League.
Before his time at Georgetown, Snyder served as a defensive graduate assistant at Wake Forest University from 2021 to 2022. He worked closely with outside linebackers and defensive ends there, contributing to the Demon Deacons’ defensive success in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). His time in Winston-Salem provided valuable Power Five coaching experience and further sharpened his player development skills.
Snyder began his coaching career in 2020 at his alma mater, Rutgers University, where he served as a player development assistant. His return to the program was marked by his commitment to mentoring student-athletes and helping instill a culture of discipline and accountability.
Before coaching, Snyder enjoyed a three-year NFL career after signing with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He also spent time with the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals. He was promoted to the Patriots’ active roster for the 2015 AFC Championship Game.
Snyder played collegiately at Rutgers from 2011 to 2014, where he appeared in 51 of 52 games, starting 25. He totaled 229 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 21.5 tackles for loss, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors and serving as a team captain. Known for his leadership and high football IQ, Snyder was awarded the Loyal Knight Award, which recognizes the Rutgers player who exemplifies character and dedication to the program.
