Prior to Kent State

Was a first team all-state defensive end, helping lead Oñate to four straight state playoff appearances, including a state championship in 2002…was a four-year letterwinner, posting 303 career tackles…in senior season, posted 72 total tackles and forced three fumbles…also had 13 tackles for a loss, including 5.5 sacks…was a two-time all-district performer and was named to the North/South All-Star team as a senior.
