Heads into the season second on the depth chart at middle linebacker...battled a hamstring injury for much of 2007 and into the spring...has a lot of experience and coaches are looking for him to step up as a leader...has earned three varsity letters.
2007 Junior Season
Appeared in eight games, making four starts at linebacker...missed the first four contests due to a hamstring injury...recorded 57 stops, 29 solo, to go along with 3.0 TFL for six yards lost...had back-to-back double digit tackle games against Oct. 27 against Central Michigan (10) and Nov. 10 at Northern Illinois (11)...intercepted his second career pass against the Huskies, returning the pick for seven yards...had three pass break-ups.
2006 Sophomore Season
Was an integral part of Kent State’s defense as an inside linebacker, starting all 12 games...tied Fritz Jacques for second on the team in total tackles with 72...notched 42 solo stops and a dozen tackles for loss, accounting for a loss of 47 yards...had three sacks for a loss of 23 yards, broke up two passes, had five quarterback hurries and recovered three fumbles; returning them a total of 13 yards...tallied a career-high 13 tackles (five solo) in the season-opener against Minnesota on Aug. 31...notched seven stops, including six of the solo variety against Toledo on Oct. 14.
2005 Freshman Season
Played in all 11 games, making eight starts as a true freshman...totaled 42 tackles (22 solo) in his first season...had 1.5 tackles for a loss...also picked up an interception and forced a fumble...made first start in season opener at Michigan State Sept. 3...had a season-best nine tackles at Navy Oct. 15...posted eight tackles (six solo) at Western Michigan Oct. 29...had seven tackles against Eastern Michigan Oct. 1...registered at least one tackle in all but one game...also had three pass breakups.
Prior to Kent State
Named a first-team all-state selection after helping lead Phoebus High School to back-to-back state championships...earned first-team All-District, All-Region, and All-Daily Press honors as a senior when he made 124 tackles, including 12 for losses and added five sacks, three fourced fumbles and a pair of interceptions...named first-team All-District and second-team All-Region as a junior...made 248 tackles in his career, 27 of which were for losses...earned three letters...was coached by Bill Dee.
