Jenny Gleason joined the Kent State women's golf staff as the assistant coach in August of 2019 after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at Texas State.
The Golden Flashes have won nine tournaments, including the program’s 22nd consecutive Mid-American Conference title this past season, during Gleason’s first two years on staff. Kent State finished 17th at the 2021 NCAA Championships and senior Chloe Salort advanced individually to the final round of stroke play.
The Flashes enjoyed a historic 2019-20 season prior to its cancelation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Strom’s team was victorious in each of her first three tournaments at the helm and won five of seven events overall. Kent State set program records for scoring average (283.00), average vs. par (-3.86) and finish percentage (.940). The Flashes climbed as high as No. 3 in the national rankings, the highest in the history of the program, and Caley McGinty was the national leader in final round scoring average. Kent State has totaled five WGCA All-American honors, which included a program record three selections for the 2019-20 season, during Gleason’s tenure.
The women’s golf program also achieved milestones in the classroom over the past two years. The Flashes posted the three highest term GPAs in program history over the past three semesters, including a record 3.738 last fall. Kent State also had four members of the 2019-2020 WGCA All-American Scholar Team.
Gleason was instrumental in Texas State's recent success, helping recruit and coach three All-American Scholars, one Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Year, one Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, three First Team All-Sun Belt players, and two Second Team All-Sun Belt honorees.
The 2018-19 season was historic for the Bobcats. In her third season at TXST, Gleason helped guide the Bobcats to several school records, including: average score (296.70), score vs. par (+10.30), rounds at or below par (five), Par-4 scoring (4.24), Par-5 scoring (5.04), lowest team round (278, -10), and lowest 54-hole score (850, -14). The Bobcats also carded 365 birdies on the season to rank second in program history. Texas State finished with the highest national ranking to date under Strom/Gleason after closing the season at No. 84.
Prior to joining the Texas State staff in 2016, Gleason served as an instructor for the Air Force Golf program held on bases around the world including in the United States, Korea, and Japan. Gleason traveled the world and performed clinics for our troops.
Gleason’s professional career included nine years on the LPGA Tour, while also garnering three victories on the Symetra Tour. Gleason won back-to-back titles at the 2005 Lima Memorial Hospital FUTURES Classic and Michelob FUTURES Charity Golf Classic before earning her third title in 2012 at the Northeast Delta International.
In addition to competing on Tour, Gleason was the Executive Director of the Angela Stanford Foundation from 2011 to 2015. Based out of Fort Worth, Texas, the Angela Stanford Foundation was created to provide scholarships to students whose parents could no longer send them to college due to the devastating burden of medical bills from cancer treatment. Two non-profits that the Angela Stanford Foundation benefits are Lena Pope Home and The First Tee of Fort Worth.
Gleason attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she was an Academic All-Southern Conference performer. While at UNCG, Gleason won three collegiate tournaments and was the team captain during the 2002-03 season. A native of Clearwater, Fla., Gleason graduated Cum Laude with a degree in finance from UNCG in 2003.
