Kent State Men Drop Close Contest in Akron Dual

FINAL RESULTS
KENT, Ohio – Despite some impressive marks, the Kent State men's track and field team was unable to pull off a win in the Akron Dual, falling to their rivals 73.50-77.50.

"We did well today on the men's side," said Director of Track and Field Bill Lawson. "We weren't great. We had some great performances, but we have more firepower sitting on the sidelines getting ready to go in the next weeks."

Wayne Gordon spearheaded Kent State's efforts with a big night. Gordon won the 200m with a second-best all-time Kent State indoor record of 21.06. He preceded that with a 6.77 win in the 60m, which now sits 5th best all-time. Riak Reese also had success in both events, finishing 3rd in the 60m and 2nd in the 200m. Gordon's 200m time puts him 4th in the nation.

William Barnes picked up the first win for the Golden Flashes' men with an 8.06 performance in the 60m hurdles. Tyler Jones finished second in the event.

Other winners on the night were Miles Dunlap in the 400m (47.87) and Reggie Jagers in the weight throw (62-02.50).

The men's 4x400m relay capped off the track events with a first place finish and time of 3:14.98.

To conclude the night, Donovan Tolbert took the win in the triple jump with a 48-05.50 performance.

The team travels to Bloomington, Indiana, next on January 24th to compete in the two-day Gladstein Invitational.
