THE GAME
Kent State (3-14, 0-6 MAC) hits the road heading to Miami (5-12, 1-5 MAC) for a game Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25), looking for the first conference win of the season.
The Golden Flashes fell 53-87 in their last contest Wednesday night at home against Central Michigan. Amber Dunlap reached a career-high in scoring for the second consecutive home game, finishing with a game-high 22 points. Both teams shot well in the first half, including a 12-0 Kent State run to being the lead within 14 points with 2:11 to go until halftime. The Golden Flashes finished the game with a season-high 16 assists.
The Golden Flashes started the month of December by winning two in a row for the first time since January of the 2011-12 season. With three wins already in their keeping, they have already matched last year's win total. Their most recent victory, a 69-46 domination of Niagara, was the team's largest win-margin since December 1, 2010.
The RedHawks have also struggled in MAC play this year, with losses to Western Michigan, Ohio, Toledo and Northern Illinois, but a big win over Akron. Miami is led by Hannah Robertson, who is averaging 13.5 points per game. Nicole Anderson leads the team with 6.2 rebounds per game. Haley Robertson has a team-high 39 assists this season.
Kent State and Miami had two similiar non-conference opponents this year in Eastern Kentucky and Duquesne. Kent State beat Eastern Kentucky 75-74 in overtime while Miami fell 55-59. Against Duquesne, the Golden Flashes lost 63-94 and Miami dropped a 58-78 contest.

REACH OUT AND READ
• Kent State basketball ball is teaming up with Akron Children's Hospital on behalf of the Reach Out and Read Program, which prepares America's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.
• Donation bins to collect books will be set out at the M.A.C. Center for our games on February 9, February 23 and March 2.
• Donations will also be accepted at the men's games on February 1.
