Men's Golf takes on elite field at Valspar Invitational at Floridian

PALM CITY, Fla. – Kent State's men's golf team is in Palm City, Fla. to take on an elite field at the Valspar Invitational at Floridian.
Including the 29th-ranked Golden Flashes, the 15-team field includes No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Illinois, No. 12 Florida State, No. 16, UCLA, No. 21 Texas A&M, No. 27 LSU, No. 28 SMU, No. 31 South Florida, No. 43 Tennessee, Florida, Lamar and tournament hosts No. 8 Houston and No. 19 Arkansas.
"This is a great field on a great golf course, and we are looking forward to the challenge," said Kent State head coach Herb Page.
The Floridian Golf Club in Plant City is a Par-72 course that will play at 7,114 yarrds.
Tournament play begins with 36 holes and a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Monday (March 24).
The final 18-hole round will be held on Tuesday (March 25) beginning at 8:30 a.m. on split tees.
Kent State is coming off of a second-place finish at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach March 10-11. Senior Corey Conners shot even par over three rounds to share medalist honors and was later named the Mid-American Conference's golfer of the week. Fellow senior Taylor Pendrith finished one shot back in third place.
The Flashes have finished second in both of their spring starts this season. They opened the 2014 portion of their schedule March 3-4 at the Davidson College Invitational in Davidson, N.C.
