
Track and Field Headed to NCAA East Region Preliminary Round this Weekend

Kent State's track and field teams send 15 athletes to the NCAA East Region Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Round held this weekend, Thurs., May 29- Sat. May 31 at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Golden Flashes' 15 athletes will compete in 18 different events as they look to advance to the NCAA Championships, June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon. The top 12 competitors in each individual event and the top 12 teams in the relays from each preliminary round sites advance to the Championships.
Kent State has five athletes that will double up their workload in individual events and compete in two separate events this weekend. Dior Delophont, Wayne Gordon, Joh'Vonnie Mosley, Matthias Tayala and Danniel Thomas will all compete in two individual events.
Delophont will compete in the high jump and the triple jump. Gordon will compete in the 100m dash and the 200m dash. Mosley and Thomas will both compete in the discus and the shot put while Tayala will compete in the hammer and Discus.
Rounding out the competitors from the women's team are Ann Marie Duffus, who will compete in the 100m hurdles, Roseanne Erickson, who will compete in the long jump, and C.J. Carlisle, who will compete in the javelin.
For the men's team, Matthew Tobin (400m dash), William Barnes (110m hurdles), Miles Dunlap (400m hurdles), Jesse Oxley (pole vault), Jailyn Twitty (triple jump), Michael King (shot put), and Reggie Jagers (discus) are the remaining athletes that will compete this weekend for Kent State. The men's 4x100m relay squad will take to the track on Saturday looking to qualify for the championships.
The NCAA East Regional Preliminary round gets underway Thurs., May 29 at 12 p.m. with the men's javelin and the women's hammer as track events kick off at 4:30 p.m. with the men's 400m hurdles.
