KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's soccer team (4-1-0) will look to extend its winning streak to four when it takes on Louisville (2-3-0) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14 at Lynn Stadium. The Golden Flashes have earned 1-0 victories in their last three games, including a UNLV Nike Invitational title. Most recently, Kent State defeated Cleveland State on Krenzler Field after junior Madison Helterbran (North Canton, Ohio) scored in the 82nd minute on a free kick.
Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Senn (Grand Island, N.Y.) recorded one save against the Vikings to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Overall, Senn has played 455:21 and has allowed just one goal (0.20 gaa) during a loss to St. Bonaventure. Senn has tallied 22 saves this season and boasts a .957 save percentage, which ranks 13th in the nation.
Rookie Karli Paracca (Valencia, Pa.) leads the Golden Flashes in scoring with four points (2), while four others have scored one goal. Senior Calli Rinicella (Solon, Ohio) and sophomore Jenna Hellstrom (Sudbury, Ontario) both have a team-high two assists.
Louisville dropped two matches last weekend; the first was a 2-0 deficit to Kentucky, and the second was a 2-1 loss to Mid-American Conference foe, Miami. Lousville travels to Morehead State on Friday, Sept. 12 before hosting the Golden Flashes on Sunday.
Freshman reserve Isabella Habuda leads the Cardinals in scoring with two goals for four points. Freshman Chatham DeProspo ranks second on the team with one goal and one assist for three points. Sophomore keeper Paige Brown leads the team in goal, playing every minute for the Cardinals. Brown owns a 1.40 goals against average and has collected nine saves.
Last season, Louisville finished with a 12-5-1 overall record (7-1-0 ACC) and played in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals welcomed 12 freshman and two transfers to the roster this season. Seven newcomers, including five freshmen earned the starting nod for Louisville.
Kent State and Louisville will be meeting for the first time.
