Comeback Falls Short in 3-2 Loss to No. 18 Michigan

KENT, Ohio โ The Golden Flashes battled as they have all season with top-ranked teams, but unfortunately Sunday's match fell short as the Wolverines were able to escape with a 3-2 victory.
The first half favored Michigan as they took a 1-0 lead to the break and led 18-2 in shots.ย They also scored as the clock started in the second half to take a 2-0 lead.
Kent State answered back five minutes later when Julia Hofmann took a beautiful shot on goal that sailed up over the goalkeeper into the back of the net.ย Hofmann was in on the Golden Flashes' next goal seven minutes later when she sent a pass in to Alison Harmatz who found the back of the net.
The deciding goal came at the 59-minute mark when the Wolverines scored on a penalty corner to seal the victory.ย They led in shots, 37-6, and corners, 12-4, in the match.
Hofmann finished with a team-high three shots on the day.ย Andrea Rinehart continued to be solid in goal with 15 saves.
Kent State now travels to Philadelphia next weekend for matches at Temple and Drexel.
