Flashes Fall at No. 15 Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. โ Kent State (2-6) had some good opportunities Saturday afternoon at No. 15 Temple (6-3) but the Owls were able to take the match 5-0.
"We had some defensive breakdowns today that just cost us," Head Coach Kathleen Wiler said.ย "Overall, we're just going to keep grinding.ย This team is working really hard."
Temple connected early on two goals three and eight minutes into the game then once again at the 20-minute mark to lead 3-0 at the half.ย Two of those tallies came off of corner opportunities.
The Owls second-half goals came at the 43-minute and 61-minute marks to make it a 5-0 contest.
Kent State had 15 shots with nine coming on goal and also six corners, but was not able to find the back of the net.ย Temple finished with 20 shots and seven corners.
Julia Hofmann led the attack with four shots.ย Hannah Faulkner and Alison Harmatz followed with three each.ย Andrea Rinehart totaled six saves in cage while playing the full 70 minutes.
"We generated some really good attack," Wiler added.ย "Temple's goalkeeper was outstanding.ย I think we just look forward to putting what we're doing out on the field again tomorrow."
The Golden Flashes have a quick turnaround as they face Drexel on Sunday at noon.
