Flashes Continue Postseason Play at UMass on Wednesday

Kent State (11-8) will look to earn just the second NCAA postseason win in program history on Wednesday when they take on the University of Massachusetts (11-8) at 2 p.m.
The winner will advance to national top-seed Syracuse for regional play beginning Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

The Matchup
• Kent State is 1-1 all-time against UMass
• The Golden Flashes took the last meeting 3-2 in overtime at a neutral site in 2011
• Prior to that, the Minutewomen won 1-0 at home in 2008
• UMass has an identical 11-8 overall record and received an automatic bid after beating Richmond 3-0 in the Atlantic 10 Tournament title game
• The Minutewomen have averaged 2.47 goals per game this season while their defense has held opponents to 1.58. They have scored 47 goals on 214 shot attempts and have earned 98 penalty corners
The Wiler Effect
• Head Coach Kathleen Wiler wrapped up her fourth MAC Coach of the Year honor in then seasons leading the Golden Flashes in a decade of dominance
• She has the second-most wins in program history and has won seven regular season titles and four MAC Tournament titles during her tenure
• Wiler started out the 2015 campaign by winning her 100th career game in the season-opener
On a High Note
• In the last eight games, Kent State has outscored its opponents 24-9 and have outshot them 141-98
• The Golden Flashes have held teams to just a .092 shot percentage in that span
• Goalkeeper Andrea Rinehart, who ended the regular season with three-straight Defensive Player of the Week honors and was named MAC Tournament MVP, has a 1.33 goals against average and a .830 save percentage during the last eight games
NCAA Experience
• This marks the 9th NCAA Tournament appearance for Kent State
• The Golden Flashes had the program's first NCAA tournament win last season when they beat Delaware 2-1 to advance to regional play
• Nine players on the team's current roster played in the Delaware game, with seven of them starting
MAC Honors
• Ines Delpech and Madison Thompson both earned All-MAC First Team accolades this season while Alayna Harris, Alison Harmatz and Andrea Rinehart were named to the Second Team
• Rinehart, Delpech, Silvia Figa Malgosa and Jessica Nesbitt made the MAC All-Tournament Team after the team's victory
