Flashes Finish 6th at Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – Kent State finished the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in 6th place after a final round of 301, 13-over par golf to total 892, 28-over in the three day event.
No. 6 Arkansas won the tournament with a final score of 876, 12-over par.
Josée Doyon had a strong third day, shooting 1-under to finish in a tie for 15th place at 5-over overall. Wad Phaewchimplee also finished in 15th place after a 4-over final round.
Taylor Kim posted a score of 6-over to end in 27th place, Natalie Goodson shot 4-over to land in a tie for 34th and Jennifer Ha shot 8-over to tie for 49th place for the Kent State contingent.
Raksha Phadke had a good tournament playing as an individual, ending the event tied with her teammates in 15th place with a final round score of even par 72.
In the event, Kent State was 3rd in par three scoring and tied for 2nd in scoring on par fives. The team also had the 2nd-most pars and 4th-most birdies. Phaewchimplee tied for 4th on par threes at 1-under and 3rd on par fives at 2-under. She also had the 5th most pars in the tournament with 37. Kim tied for 2nd-most pars through all three rounds with a total of 40. Goodson had nine birdies which ranked 5th.
The Golden Flashes have a few weeks of practice ahead before returning to competition March 6-8 at the Gator Women's Invitational.
