Doyon Wins Second-Straight Event as Flashes Take the Lady Buckeye

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kent State completed the win at the Lady Buckeye Invitational this weekend in its final tournament of the regular season. Josée Doyon also completed the victory as an individual, taking her second consecutive tournament title.
The Golden Flashes shot 10-over in the final round to finish three strokes ahead of runner-up and event host Ohio State. Kent State finished the event at 883, 19-over.
Doyon shot an even par on the last day to finish 4-under with a three-stroke victory. It is her second-consecutive tournament win as she won her first collegiate event at the Rebel Intercollegiate. Her last seven rounds have all been par or better during her current hot streak.
She was joined in the top five by teammates Wad Phaewchimplee and Jennifer Ha. Phaewchimplee shot 1-over on Sunday to finish at 4-over in 4th place. Ha was close behind in a tie for 5th with a 1-over day to finish at 5-over overall.
Both Maddy Mullins and Natalie Goodson ended the event in a tie for 42nd place with 19-over totals.
Kent State led the field in par three and par five scoring on the weekend. They were second in birdies with a three-round total of 38.
Doyon tied for the best par three and par four scoring while leading the field by shooting 5-under on the par fives. She led all competitors with 16 birdies, five more than the next-best player in that category.
The Golden Flashes will now prepare to vie for their record-setting 17th-straight Mid-American Conference Championship. The event will be held April 24-26 at Shaker Run Golf Club in Lebanon, Ohio.
