Golden Flashes Head to the Jesse Owens Track Classic Friday

Kent State's track and field teams head to the Jesse Owens Classic and look to continue their success in rewriting history at Kent State. The classic hosted by Ohio State University at the Jesse Owens Memorial Track in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, May 1st and Saturday May 2nd.
The meet is set to get underway Friday at 2pm with the women's javelin and men's discus while Saturday's events kick off at 10am with the men's pole vault.

Last Time Out ...
• Golden Flashes continued to break school records with three last weekend (men's 4x200m Relay, women's Shot Put and 1600 Sprint Medley Relay). Kent State ran at four meets over the weekend (Drake Relays, Gina Relays, Ashland Alumni Open, Kip Janvrin Open).
• Men's 4x200m Relay – Matthew Tobin, Miles Dunlap, Andrew O'Leary, William Barnes – placed 6th at the Drake Relays and ran a time of 1:24.61.
• Previous school record was 1:25.20 – 1984 (Jefferson, Graham, Starks, Jones)
• Women's Shot Put – Danniel Thomas broke her own school record. Took 1st at the Ashland Alumni Open with 56' 2.5"
• Women's 1600 Sprint Medley Relay – Kaila Gardner, Jorian Ordway, Tyler Williams, Lauren Burnett – placed 9th with a time of 3:51.61.
• Previous School record was 3:57.97

Results from last year
• Four Golden Flashes took first with Danniel Thomas and Matthew Tobin returning this year
• Thomas took first in the Discus at 56.22m (184' 5") and finished in second in the Shot Put 15.97m (52' 4.75")
• Tobin took first in the 400m dash at 47.72-seconds
Up Next ...
• The Golden Flashes head to Akron on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th for the Campbell Wright Open to close out the regular season before heading to Muncie, Indiana for the Mid-American Conference Championships.
