Track and Field Travels to Tennessee Relays Thursday

The Kent State men's and women's track and field teams will head to Knoxville, Tennessee to participate in the Tennessee Relays this weekend. The competition is set begin on Thursday, April 9th and run through Saturday, April 11th with events taking place throughout each day.

The Tennessee Relay are presented by Sea Rays and are comprised of both college and high school events. The relays will kick off Thursday at 10 am with high school events and 10:30am with the men's college decathlon, with live results provided by www.DirectAthletics.com.
Last Time in Action ...
The Golden Flashes head into this weekend's meet after a strong showing at the Northeast Ohio Quad held at the University of Akron on Thursday, April 2nd and Friday, April 3rd.
Among the four individual first place finishers for the Golden Flashes was William Barnes. Barnes brought home first in the men's 100m and 200m dashes with times of 10.49 and 20.92, respectively, and was named this week's Mid-American Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Isaiah Conkle, Jonathan Grant, William Barnes and Miles Dunlap also finished first at 40.67 seconds.
The other three individual first place finishes came from the women's team with Hannah Fleck, Jorian Ordway, and Tabitha Jacofsky. Fleck ran a time of 4:41.63 in the 1500m run, Ordway in the 200m dash at 24.52, and Jacofsky in the 800m run with a 2:15.01 time, were all good enough for first place in their respected events.
Rounding out the first place finishes from day one was the women's 4x400m relay team of Lynnese Beyan, Jorian Ordway, Lauren Burnett and Tyler Williams who finished with a time of 3:46.67.
On day two of the Northeast Ohio Quad, Morgan Estes took home a first place finish in the pole vault with a jump of 3.98m (13' 0.75"), which was a personal best for Estes and moved her into fourth all-time Kent State history.
In the men's pole vault, Jesse Oxley came away in second place with a height 5.25m (17' 2.75").
The Golden Flashes also received third place finishes from Dior Delophont and Jackie Leppelmeier. Delophont in the women's javelin threw 40.60m (133' 2") and Leppelmeier in the women's shot put with a mark of 59.62m (195' 7").
