
Soccer Travels to Butler; Hosts Cleveland State This Weekend

KENT, Ohio- The Golden Flashes soccer team travels to Indianapolis to take on Butler (5-1-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 and will host Cleveland State (3-3-1) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept.13. Â Â
Live stats will be provided for the game vs. the Bulldogs, while both video and live stats will be available for Sunday's home game vs. the Vikings.Â
The Golden Flashes (1-2-2) headed east to compete in the TD Bank Classic hosted at the University of Vermont last weekend. Kent State fell 1-0 to the host Catamounts on Friday, but tied New Hampshire 1-1 on Sunday. Sophomore Donavan Capehart (Orient, Ohio) tallied the lone Kent State goal and junior forward Jenna Hellstrom (Sudbury, Ontario) earned the assist.
Hellstrom, Kent State's leading scorer with three goals and four assists, leads the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in points (10), points per game (2.00), assists (4) and assists per game (0.80). She also ranks 10th in the nation in total assists and 12th in assists per game.Â
Freshman goalkeeper Ashleah McDonald (Langley, British Columbia) leads the MAC in goals against average (0.66), save percentage (.909) and saves per game (6.67). McDonald has a 1-1-1 record and has a total of 20 saves and has allowed just two goals in her 272:44 of play.Â
Sophomores Kristen Brots (Naperville, Ill.) and Capehart both rank second on the team in scoring with two goals, while sophomore Karli Paracca (Valencia, Pa.) and junior Brittany Maisano (Dublin, Ohio) have one apiece.Â
Kent State has a 0-0-1 record against Butler, having tied 1-1 in a game played in Indianapolis on Sept. 12, 2004.  The Golden Flashes and Cleveland State will meet for the 10th time, with Kent State boasting a 7-1-1 record. The Flashes' have won the last four consecutive games vs. the Vikings, including a 1-0 win in Cleveland last season.
Following Sunday's home game, the Golden Flashes will travel to Richmond, Kentucky to face the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
