
Track and Field to Host Tune-Up in Preparation For MAC Championship

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State track and field team returns to the Kent State Field House Saturday, Feb. 20 to host the Kent State Tune-Up in preparation for next weekend's MAC Championship at Akron.
Last Time Out
Last weekend at the Spire Invitational, junior Morgan Estes took first place in the pole vault at a height of 4.12m (13' 6.25"), breaking her own school record of 4.1m (13' 5.25").
Senior Dior Delophont was named MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week after capturing victories in the triple jump and the high jump. Her mark of 12.89m (42' 3.5") in the triple jump ranks first in the Mid-American Conference so far this season.
The men's team also had a good showing in the field events, with five athletes finishing in the top five in their respected events. In the long jump, sophomore Jonathan Grant (7.11m) and freshman Samory Fraga (7.06m) took second and fourth, respectively. Golden Flashes also took second and fourth in the triple jump, with senior Donavan Tolbert (15.1m) taking second and AJ Stevens (14.9m) taking fourth. Jesse Oxley came away with a third place in the pole vault with a mark of 5.03m (16' 6").
On the track, senior Williams Barnes took second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.85. In the 800m, senior Jacob Swords ran a season-best 1:51.48, finishing sixth overall.
On the women's side, the 4x400m relay team of Jorian Ordway, Tyler Williams, Taylor Farquhar, and Chelsea Laury took third with a time of 3:42.04, moving them into second all-time in Kent State history. In the 800m, Taylor Wickey (2:12.83) and Olivia Gaus (2:13.21) set personal records, while Caroline Sauers (4:55.34) and Olivia Davis (4:58.40) set personal records in the one mile run.
Last Year's Tune Up
When the Golden Flashes hosted the Tune-Up last year, Morgan Estes, Sam Tollerud, and Rebecca Herte swept the top three spots in the pole vault, respectively. Dior Delophont took the top spot in the high jump with a mark of 1.84m (6' 0.5").
On the men's side, William Barnes in the 60m hurdles, Roosevelt Dotson in the high jump, and Jesse Oxley in the pole vault, all came away with first place finishes.

The Golden Flashes are using the tune up to prepare for the Indoor MAC Championships taking place next weekend, Feb. 26-27 at the University of Akron.
