NCAA Regional Play Begins Thursday for Women's Golf

Women's golf will begin play at NCAA Regionals in Bryan, Texas, this Thursday with the three-day, three round event ending on Saturday. The top six teams and three individuals from each of the four regional sites will advance to the NCAA Championships held May 20-15 in Eugene, Oregon.

Tee Times
• Kent State will tee off from hole No. 1 9:00-9:40 a.m. on Thursday in the first round
• The Golden Flashes will be paired with Furman and host Texas A&M in the opening round
• The second round will be held on Friday with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
• The third and final round on Saturday will also begin at 8:00 a.m.

• In 18 years of women's golf in the Mid-American Conference, Kent State has won the conference championships every single year
• The team broke the MAC record for consecutive championships in the history of the conference with its 18th-straight win this season
• The team currently has the best season scoring average in program history at 290.64 entering regional play. The Golden Flashes also set a new program record with six wins this year.
• The lowest scoring average in a complete season was set last year with a 296.91.
• Taylor Kim's single season scoring average of 72.61 is currently slated to break the Kent State record for beat all-time. Wad Phaewchimplee is in second place at 73.11, breaking also breaking the record she herself set in 2014-15.
• Phaewchimplee remains Kent State's career scoring leader by averaging 73.63 in 90 rounds and 2.06 versus par. Kim is second at 74.17 and 2.64 in 76 rounds.
• In her career, Phaewchimplee is also 2nd in par or better rounds and 2nd in finish percentage.
• Kim currently sits 2nd in career scoring averÂage, 4th in par or better rounds and 10th in finish percentage.
Regional History
• Last season, Kent State finished in 9th place at the Notre Dame regional after shooting 32-over with an 896 total score.
• Taylor Kim narrowly missed making it to the NCAA Championships as an individual. She went into a three-person playoff for the final individual spot but did not advance.
• The team barley missed advancing to the chamÂpionships in 2014-15, as they missed the cut by one stroke. Phaewchimplee went on as an individuÂal after winning the regional event as a freshman.
