SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – Kent State takes on a Cardinal Cup field that includes six of the nation's top 50 women's golf teams on Saturday and Sunday at the UofL Golf Club.Â
Joining the 16th-ranked Flashes are No. 15 Illinois, No. 36 Wisconsin, No. 37 Kentucky, No. 41 Louisville, No. 46 East Carolina and No. 50 Memphis. The field also includes Virginia Tech, Richmond, Toledo, Charlotte, Murray State, Columbia, and Ball State.Â
Saturday will see the Kent State lineup of Pimnipa Panthong, Michaela Finn, Kory Nielsen, Karoline Stormo, and Kelly Nielsen tee off at 9:15 a.m. in the lead pairing with tournament host Louisville and East Carolina. All teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and conclude with an 18-hole final round on Sunday.Â
The Cardinal Cup, which celebrates its 14th year, is a new feature to the Kent State schedule. The 7,192-yard, par-72 UofL Golf Course, with it's bent grass fairways, was designed by Louisville-based architect Spencer Holt.
This weekend's event will be Kent State's last of the fall season. After their annual alumni match on Jan. 27, the team will begin the spring season Feb. 5 at the Mid-American Conference Match Play Challenge in Bradenton, Fla.
