Bookman and Dunlap Lead Flashes at MAC Cross Country Championships

OXFORD, Ohio – The Kent State men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday morning in Oxford, Ohio.
The men improved from last year to eighth place and were led by one top-20 finish and pack inside the top-50. Clark Bookman led the way for the Golden Flashes, taking 16th place overall in the 8K event with a time of 25:14.1. He improved 27 spots from the previous year.
Grzegorz Kunc, Brandon Avers and Nick Schank all claimed top-50 spots, coming in 40th, 42nd and 48th, respectively. Sam Goodman came in 59th at 26:22.1, while Bryce Ott finished 66th with a time of 26:39.9.
The women's team claimed 12th place, 31 points behind Ball State. Maddie Dunlap made her MAC Championships debut and led the women's side with a 23rd place showing in the 6K race. She finished with a time of 21:45.9.
The women had two pairs cross the finish like within a second of each other. Jaimie Adams and Nicole Fleming finished in 74th and 75th place with times of 23:05.2 and 23:06.5, respectively. Robin Foster and Olivia Davis came in 82nd and 83rd with times of 23:31.5 and 23:22.3, respectively.
