Eight Flashes Represented on Academic All-MAC Field Hockey Team

CLEVELAND - The Kent State University field hockey team had eight student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Team, as announced Wednesday.
The Flashes honored were:
Ines Delpech, Sr., 4.0
Silvia Figa Malgosa, Sr., 3.919
Shannon Talbot, Sr., 3.758
Jessica Apelt, Jr., 3.597
Melanie Scibilia, So., 3.513
Jessica Nesbitt, Sr., 3.46
Jamie Fries, Sr., 3.387
Maddey Pope, So., 3.347
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
The Kent State field hockey team matched its academic success on the playing field, with Kent State finishing 2017 5-1 in MAC play. The Flashes advanced to the MAC Championship game, where they took Miami to overtime.
