
Play4Kay Set for Saturday

Kent State will host its annual Play4Kay game this Saturday when Ohio visits for a 2 p.m. matchup.

The Matchup
• Kent State is 52-28 all-time against Ohio
• The Flashes upended the Bobcats 68-65 on the road earlier this year, ending Ohio's 29-1 home record that dated back to the 2014-15 season
• Prior to that, Ohio had won the previous four meetings
• The Bobcats were picked to win the East Division in the preseason coaches poll and received votes to take both the regular season and tournament titles
• They currently lead the MAC East at 9-4 and are in 4th place overall
• Ohio's other three conference losses this season came at Northern Illinois and in both meetings with Central Michigan
Play4Kay
• Kent State is collecting donations on behalf of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund at https://support.kayyow.com/team/105126
• Teams across the country host Play4Kay games every year to raise money for the organization that benefits women's cancer research
• The fund began in 2007 on the vision of former women's basketball coach Kay Yow
• Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and died from the disease in 2009
• The Kay Yow Cancer Fund has donated more than $5.28 million to the cause in its first nine years
• Fans are asked to wear pink to Saturday's game at the M.A.C. Center
• Free t-shirts will be given out to the first 250 fans

Tournament Implications
• Saturday's matchup will be a big factor in MAC Tournament seeding
• Ohio currently leads the East at 9-4 and is in the last spot to receive a bye in the first round
• Kent State is right behind them at second in the East at 8-5 overall
• The top four overall teams will receive a first round bye while the 5-8 seeds will host 9-12 at home sites on Monday, March 6

Remaining Home Games
• Kent State has just two other home games remaining in the regular season after Saturday's Play4Kay matchup
• The Golden Flashes will host Akron in a televised game on Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m.
• Alumnae are invited back to the M.A.C. Center to be recognized at the game
• The final regular season game will be Saturday, March 4 on senior day when the Flashes host would could be a pivotal rematch with Buffalo
