Kent State (16-11) will go for the full Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge point when it hosts Akron (9-17, 2-13) on Saturday at 2 p.m. The game will be televised on Spectrum Sports and ESPN3.

The Matchup
• Kent State is 49-15 all-time against Akron
• The Flashes won this season's earlier meeting on the road by a score of 72-58
• A 20-0 second quarter run was the difference in the game
• Prior to the February 11 victory, the Zips had won the previous eight meetings, dating back to 2012
• The Zips have collected just two conference wins this season, at Northern Illinois in a 84-55 game and home against Eastern Michigan 80-62
MAC Tournament Implications
• Kent State currently leads the MAC East and holds the four seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament with three games left to play
• The first four seeds receive a bye on March 6 while seeds 5-8 host seeds 9-12 on campus sites
• Competition then continues at Quicken Loans Arena on Wednesday, March 8

Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge
• The competition awards points to the head-to-head winners in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, women's soccer, softball, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's outdoor track and field and volleyball
• Kent State has won every challenge since its inception in the 2011-2012 school year
• This is Crystal Clinic's first year sponsoring the Wagon Wheel Challenge
• Akron currently leads, but both Kent State men's and women's basketball won their first meeting
Sweeping Through the East
• Saturday's game will give the Flashes the chance to sweep the season series with an East opponent for the third time
• Kent State already swept Ohio, winning 68-65 on the road and 83-77 at home
• Most recently, the Flashes went to Bowling Green and won 70-60 after beating them 80-78 at home
• Kent State will travel to Miami next Wednesday and finish the season by hosting Buffalo on March 3
