No. 14 Men's Golf Travels to Myrtle Beach

KENT, Ohio – The No. 14 Kent State University men's golf team is set for its second tournament of the spring season, the 16th General Hackler Championship, hosted by Coastal Carolina at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina March 11-12.
The Hackler Championship is scheduled to play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 final holes on Sunday at the par-72, 7,233-yard Dunes Club, annually ranked among the top 10 courses in South Carolina.
Competing in the tournament alongside Kent State will be: hosts Coastal Carolina, No. 15 Wake Forest, No. 9 LSU, Kentucky, No. 3 Virginia, North Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina State, Iowa State, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, South Alabama, Charleston Southern and Virginia Tech.
The Flashes are coming off a dominant showing in their spring debut, winning the Louisiana Classics by 19 strokes. The Flashes dominated a course that some of the best teams in the country had trouble with. Although the Flashes finished 21-under par, all but two other teams in the field, both nationally ranked, finished nine-over par or higher. Ian Holt finished second and was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week.
The Flashes will enter the tournament with all five golfers in their lineup ranked national. Holt leads the pack at 28th in the country, followed by Josh Whalen at 98th. As a team, Kent State ranks third in the nation in average score at 71.34 and second against par at -0.14.
