
WNIT Action Begins Thursday Night at Michigan

Women's basketball will begin action in the WNIT Thursday night at Michigan. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

• Michigan will stream the game live on BTN2Go, available for a fee

The Matchup
• Kent State is 0-3 all time against Michigan
• The two teams last met in the first round of the WNIT on March 19, 2010. The Wolverines won that game 69-34
• The other two matchups were both in 1981, one in January and one in December. Those were both also played in Ann Arbor
• Michigan is one of the top teams in this year's WNIT field
• They finished third in the Big Ten at 11-5 and are 22-9 overall this year
• The Wolverines have lost just one of 15 home games this season
• The two teams shared some common opponents this season
• Michigan beat Western Michigan 66-40, beat Ohio 69-46, beat Minnesota 84-69 and beat Iowa 72-70
• All four of those games were played at home at the Crisler Center
WNIT History
• Thursday marks the first WNIT appearance for the Flashes since 2011
• That year, Kent State traveled to Duquesne for the first round and lost 64-56
• They fell the year before at Michigan
• Kent State's first WNIT appearance in program history was in 2004 when they went to Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia and lost 61-51
• Second round games are set to be held March 18-21
• With a win, Kent State will travel to the winner of Wright State/Central Michigan
• All games in the WNIT are played at campus sites

• The Golden Flashes will be taking a fan bus that will leave the M.A.C. Center on Thursday at noon and will include a free ticket to the game
