Track and Field Concludes Competition at Miami Duals

OXFORD, Ohio โ Kent State's track and field programs wrapped up the opening week of the 2017 outdoor season at the Miami Duals Saturday.ย
Kent State women's team captured two victories on the day, one of which went to Rebecca Leppelmeier in the discus with a mark of 48.60m (159' 5").ย Taking third was Jai'lyn Mosley at 48.05m (157' 7"), followed by Victoria Ross in 10th at 40.00m (131' 2").ย
The Golden Flashes'ย 4x100m relay team of Kayla Seymour, Jorian Ordway, Mi'Angel Daniels and Bennisha Nunnย captured the other event title with a winning time of 46.72. ย In the women's 100m dash, Nunn crossed the finish line in 12.43 seconds, taking third-place.
Golden Flashes took four of the top-10 spots in the 400m dash as Ordway (56.91) finished runner-up, Taylor Farquhar (57.59) took fourth, Lauren Burnett (58.53) took ninth and Olivia Gaus (58.68) took 10th.
Gabrielle Figueroa also claimed a runner-up finish, taking second in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.52m (195' 3").ย Taking eighth behind Figueroa was Leppelmeier at distance of 53.29m (174' 10").ย
Taking second and third in the women's 3,000m steeplechase was Jaimie Adams and Morgan Manuel with times of 11:49.38 and 11:52.17, respectively.ย Kent State had three runners in the 3,000m as Morgan Arena (10:32.51) took 13th, Morgan Bing (10:49.45) took 23rd and Madison Spreitzer (10:53.78) took 27th.ย Sarah Pack ran in the 1,500m, taking sixth with a time of 4:51.33. ย
AJ Stevens had the top finish of the day for the men's team in the field events. Stevens took jumped 6.47m (21' 2.75") to take second-place in the long jump.ย In the high jump, Abdul-Nasser Seidu took third with a mark of 1.80m (5' 10.75"), while Trevor Detillion took fourth in the discus at 52.60m (172' 7").ย
In the shot put, David Paliscak took third at 17.50m (57' 5"), followed Walter Petzel in eighth (15.79m) and Detillion in 10th (15.22m).ย
On the track for the men's team, Richard Dahome captured third in theย 110m hurdles at 14.82 seconds, while Mitchell Kubicki took eighth in the 400m hurdles at 56.03.ย In the 100m dash, Isaiah Conkle (11.31) finished eighth followed Shaquille Perry in 17th at (11.66).ย Perry also ran in the 200m, taking 16th with a time of 23.12.ย
In the 800m, Bryce Ott and Josh Gogan took spots 12 and 13 with times of 2:01.56 and 2:03.25, respectively.ย Gogan also ran in the 1,500m, taking 18th at 4:12.59.ย Nick Schank ran in the 3,000m, taking 14th with a time of 9:00.22.ย
The Golden Flashes return to action next weekend as they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to compete in the Crimson Tide Invitational April 7-8.
