COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Kent State University field hockey team (1-3) dropped its first of two games on the campus of Ohio State, falling to No. 9 Louisville (3-1), 5-1, Sunday.

Louisville entered Sunday's match with a first place vote in the national poll and looked the part of a national title contender. The Cardinals opened up with four goals in the first 18 minutes of the match, before splitting the second half with Kent State.

The Golden Flashes scored their lone goal in the 62^nd minute from All-American senior Ines Delpech. The goal came straight off of a corner from Clara Rodriguez Setó, the second corner opportunity of the period. Jessica Nesbitt also assisted on the play. The goal was Delpech's first of the season and 19th of her career.

To that point, Louisville had built a five goal advantage, starting with the opener in the third minute from Nicole Woods off a deflection. Woods would finish the day with a hat trick, scoring in both the 10th and 18th minute. The Cardinals also recorded goals from Marigrace Ragsdale in the 13th minute and Minout Mink in the 49th minute.

Kent State recorded 11 saves, eight of which came from freshman goalkeeper Kylie LeBlanc. She allowed just one goal in the final 49 minutes of the match in her collegiate debut. Overall, Louisville led Kent State in shots, 25-6, and corners, 11-4.

The Flashes will return to action in Columbus Tuesday against Ohio State at 3 p.m.
