Kent State Falls at First-Place Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – Kent State held off a furious fourth-set run from host Toledo to earn a 3-0 (15-25, 21-21, 18-25) on Saturday to bring the first half of the Mid-American Conference season to a close.
The Golden Flashes (9-13, 2-6 MAC) posted their highest hitting percentage (.248) against a MAC opponent, but the Cardinals had the highest hitting percentage (.360) by an opponent all season.
Freshman Danie Tyson led the offense with nine kills. Junior Myla King, senior Amy Kober and freshman Melissa Kolurbasi added six kills apiece. Redshirt freshman Alex Haffner handed out 29 assists.
The floor defense was led by Erin Gardner, who collected a match-high 19 digs. Senior Lexi Mantas added 10 digs.
Kent State will play six of the final eight regular season matches at the M.A.C. Center, beginning with contests against Northern Illinois (Oct. 19) and Western Michigan (Oct. 20).
