
Women’s Basketball Hosts YSU on Tuesday

Kent State hosts its third Horizon League opponent in four days when Youngstown State visits the M.A.C. Center on Tuesday for a women's basketball contest at 5 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to watch two games for the price of one, as the men's team is scheduled to play Savannah State approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game. All women's tickets for Tuesday will be honored for general admission seating at the men's game.
The Golden Flashes (2-2) defended home court over the weekend with victories against Northern Kentucky and Oakland in the Kent State Classic. Four players scored in double-figures against the Golden Grizzlies on Sunday, as Kent State scored put a season-high points total on the scoreboard in a 75-65 victory. The Flashes made nine three-pointers for the second time this season after hitting that mark just once a year ago and blocked seven shots, which is tied for the second-most since head coach Todd Starkey took over prior to the 2016-17 season.
Guard Megan Carter (17.8 ppg) has scored at least 14 points in all for game's and is the ninth-leading scorer in the Mid-American Conference. Carter also leads the Flashes in assists (3.5 apg) and is shared for the lead in rebounding (5.0 rpg). Freshman Asiah Dingle (12.8 ppg) has provided a scoring threat at the point guard position. Forward Lindsey Thall (9.3 ppg) leads Kent State with eight three-pointers and ranks fourth in the MAC at 1.5 blocks per game. Center Merissa Barber-Smith is tied with Carter as the team's top rebounder at 5.0 per game and guard Alexa Golden is fourth in the conference in steals per game (2.5 spg).
