Golden Flashes Visit Wright State on Sunday

Kent State hits the road for the first time since a trip to the Tar Heel state on opening weekend for a contest at Wright State at 2 p.m. inside of the Nutter Center.
The Golden Flashes (3-3) are 3-0 against Horizon League schools this season and will try to avenge a 72-60 loss to the Raiders last season at the M.A.C. Center. Kent State's three-game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday in a 77-72 setback to Duquesne. Four Flashes scored in double-figures for the second time this season, as Megan Carter led the way with 17 points. Lindsey Thall (15 points) grabbed a team-high six rebounds, while Asiah Dingle (13 points) had a career-high six assists. Ali Poole added 10 points off the bench. The Flashes drilled 10 three-pointers for the second game in a row.
Guard Megan Carter (18.0 ppg) has scored at least 14 points in all for game's and is the fifth-leading scorer in the Mid-American Conference. Carter also leads the Flashes in assists (3.5 apg) and adds 5.4 rebounds per game. Freshman Asiah Dingle (12.8 ppg) has provided a scoring threat at the point guard position. Forward Lindsey Thall (9.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg) leads Kent State with 12 three-pointers and nine blocks. Center Merissa Barber-Smith is the team's top rebounder at 6.0 per game. Guard Alexa Golden (5.8 ppg) has a team-high 11 steals and is shooting 42.9 percent from on three-pointers.
Scouting Wright State
Ranked No. 21 in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25, Wright State (4-3) has won three straight after capturing the Challenge in Music City Broadway Bracket title last weekend. The Raiders posted a 19.3 average margin of victory over the three games, which concluded a 76-60 championship game victory against previously-unbeaten Marist. Wright State was picked to finish third in the Horizon League and guard Emily Vogelpohl was a preseason all-conference first team selection.
Seven players average at least six points per game for the Raiders. Mackenzie Taylor is the leading scorer (13.3 ppg) and was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Monday. Taylor, who is 20 away from the 1,000-point mark and is nearing 200 career three-pointers, poured in a career-high 24 last weekend against Hofstra. Junior college transfer Michal Miller adds 10.4 points per game. Emily Vogelpohl is averaging 9.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. The Horizon League All-Defensive Team honoree has a team-high 11 steals. Tyler Frierson (7.7 rpg) leads the Raiders with 6.7 rebounds per game.
