Kent State Wins Four Events on Final Day at Akron Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – Kent State won four events as part of the Gold Invitational in the final session of the Akron Invitational on Saturday afternoon inside of Stile Field House.
Riak Reese ran collegiate-best times to win both of his races. Reese ran 6.70 in the 60-meter dash and 21.02 in the 200-meter dash. Both times rank fourth in program history. Brandon Wilson also qualified for 60-meter dash final and placed sixth in 6.87.
Grzegorz Kunc won the 800-meter run in a personal-best time of 1:52.51.
Nicole Yeargin was also victorious, clocking a 24.27 in the 200-meter dash. Yeargin's time is good for fourth in program history.
On the men's side, Anthony Milliner and Ryan Looser both finished third in their respective events. Milliner leaped 47-9.75 in the triple jump and Looser posted 5,069 points in the heptathlon. Looser's 2,436 points were the most of any competitor on Saturday, as he leaped nine spots on the leaderboard from his spot in last after Friday's four events. He won the pole vault by clearing 15-3.50 but his highest-scoring event (898) was the 60H, where he clocked an 8.34 to finish third.
The Flashes' women earned runner-up finishes in both the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run. Tyler Williams clocked a 55.53 in the 400-meter dash and Lauren Burnett finished the 800-meter run in 2:14.45. Mi'Angel Daniels also had a good showing on the track, placing third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.53, which ranks fourth on Kent State's all-time list.
Cayla Carey and Sam Tollerud led the Flashes in field events. Carey's mark of 19-2.75 was good for third in the long jump, while Tollerud cleared 13-6.50 for third-place in the pole vault.
Maddie Dunlap led Kent State in Blue Division competition on the day by winning the 3,000-meter run in 10:27.76. Jaimie Adams finished right behind in 10:30.89 for second. Sarena Choi (triple jump) and Kevin Jones (800-meter run) also posted runner-up finishes.
The Golden Flashes will host the first of two meets to conclude the regular with the Kent State National Qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Kent State Field House.
