Track and Field Readies for Another Busy Weekend

The track and field team program continues the outdoor season with athletes in action this weekend at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Classic and Auburn's War Eagle Invitational. Both meets will begin with limited action on Thursday, April 20 and conclude on Saturday, April 21.
Jesse Owens Classic (Columbus, Ohio)

A total of 48 Golden Flashes are registered for competition at the Jesse Owens Classic. The hammer throw and javelin will get the action started at 2 p.m. on Friday. Action on the track is slated to start at 6:30 p.m. with the 5K and 1500-meter run being the only running events of the evening.
Field events will start the day on Saturday with the women's shot put and men's discus slated for 10 a.m. The women's 4x100 relay opens running events at 12 p.m.
The men's side will have 22 athletes in action, headlined by Christian Champen (pole vault), Trevor Detillion (hammer throw, discus), Kevin Jones (800m, 1500m), Grzegorz Kunc (1500m), Evan Lesnick (pole vault) and Jake Wickey (hammer throw, discus,
A total of 26 athlete are set for action on the women's day. Top performers include Gabrielle Figueora (hammer throw), Ally Thompson (pole vault) and Sam Tollerud (pole vault).
War Eagle Invitational (Auburn, Alabama)

The Golden Flashes will send 16 student-athletes compete at the War Eagle Invitational. JJ Johnson, Anthony Milliner. and Britni Phillips are slated for action in the triple jump on Friday. Stevens, Jr. ranks seventh nationally after leaping 53'-1.5" last weekend. Milliner owns the Mid-American Conference's third-best mark at 48'-0.5".
Samory Fraga, Johnson and Cayla Carey will begin action on Saturday in the long jump at 11:30 a.m. Fraga shattered the school record at the Tennessee Relays with a jump of 25'-8" and owns a No. 14 national ranking. Carey ranks second in the MAC on the women's side with a top mark of 19'-10.75".
Action on the track will begin at 12 p.m. with the women's 4x100 relay with the men's race to follow. The Flashes' women will also compete in the 4x400 relay to conclude the day at 4:35 p.m. Individuals competing in running events include Korie Davis II (200m/400m), Brandon Harris (100m/200m), Andrew O'Leary (200m/800m) and Riak Reese (200m) on the men's side and Lauren Burnett (800m), Gana Lopez (100m), Bennisha Nunn (100m), Irene Skinner (400m), Tyler Williams (400m) and Nicole Yeargin (200m) on the women's side.
