
No.25 Men’s Golf to Compete at Ohio State

KENT, Ohio- The No. 25 Kent State men's golf team will close out the regular season at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State April 21-22 in Columbus, Ohio. The 54-hole, two-day event is located at the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club.
Two rounds of golf will be played on Saturday to open the tournament with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round will tee off on holes one and 10 at 8 a.m.
It's a solid 16-team field this weekend featuring four teams, including No. 25 Kent State, ranked in the top-50 of the latest Golfstat team rankings. No. 13 Illinois headlines the group, followed by No. 40 Penn State and No. 42 Purdue rounding out the top-50 ranked teams.
The rest of the field includes Ball State, Bowling Green, Colgate, Francis Marion, Iowa, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Northern Illinois, host Ohio State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, and Xavier.
The tournament and course are familiar to the Flashes, having won the tournament five times in the past. Kent State holds more tournament titles than any other team outside of host Ohio State. Last year, the Flashes took second with Bjarki Petursson (Borgarnes, Iceland)one shot shy of claiming the tournament. Champion.
The lineup this weekend will be seniors Ian Holt (Stow, Ohio) and Chase Johnson (Barberton, Ohio), juniors Peturrsson and Gisli Sveinbergsson (Hafnarfjordur, Iceland), and freshman Josh Gilkison (Springboro, Ohio).
Kent State enters placing in the top-3 of its last three tournaments. Last time out, the Flashes fought through tough conditions to be crowned co-champions at the Boilermaker Invitational. Kent State finishes at 579 (+3) and finished two strokes ahead of host Purdue.
