
Clara Rodriguez Setรณ Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio โKent State sophomoreย Clara Rodriquez Setó was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Weekย following the opening weekend of play, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon. Rodriguez Setó was part of a consistent back row in games against Old Dominion and Michigan State.
Rodriguez Setó has been instrumental as part of a Kent State defense that allowed only one goal in Friday's contest against Old Dominion. With the aid of Rodriguez Setó's play, the Monarchs were held to just four shots on goal,ย scoringย the match's only tally on a penalty stroke.
The Barcelona native exploded offensively against Michigan State on Sunday, netting two goals in a thrilling overtime match. Rodriguez Setó scored the Flashes' first goal of the season in the 7thย minute of the game off a pass to the corner of the net. In the 26thย minute, Rodriguez Setó scored the second goal as she recovered the ball off the Spartan goalkeeper's pads following a save and put itย back to the net to tie the game 2-2 leading into halftime. The back row with the help of Rodriguez Setó continued to be instrumental, shutting out the Spartans in the second half to take the game into overtime.
A key player for the Golden Flashes,ย Rodriguez Setó was named All-MAC Second Team and was a candidate for Freshman of the Year in 2017.
