
Defense Grounds Rockets as Flashes Pass First #MACtion Road Test

TOLEDO, Ohio – Another big fourth quarter and tenacious defense fueled Kent State in a 58-47 win at Toledo on Saturday afternoon that extended its season-best winning streak to seven games.
The Golden Flashes (10-4) put 24 points on the board over the final 10 minutes to put the game away and are 3-0 to start Mid-American Conference play for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Through three league games, Kent State has outscored its opponents by 29 points in the fourth quarter.
Redshirt junior Megan Carter led all scorers with 22 points, including 13 in the final quarter. Freshman Asiah Dingle added 13 points.
Defensively, Kent State held Toledo, the No. 10 team in the espnW Mid-Major Poll, to a season-low 47 points on 18-for-58 (31.0 percent) from the field. Freshman Lindsey Thall blocked four shots to match her career-high.
The Flashes return to action for their first MAC East Division matchup of the season at Ohio on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Tip-off from the Convocation Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
