MUNCIE, Ind. – Kent State allowed host Ball State to make fewer than one-third of its field goals attempts and forced 23 turnovers in a 48-44 setback inside of Worthen Arena on Wednesday evening.
The Golden Flashes (10-7, 3-3 MAC) have now lost three straight after a 3-0 start to the Mid-American Conference season for the first time since 2010-11.
Senior Alexa Golden and freshman Asiah Dingle led the defensive charge, as each matched their career-high for steals. Golden had six takeaways to go with two blocked shots and Dingle recorded five steals.
A collective effort in which four players grabbed at least six rebounds resulted in a 46-44 advantage on the glass. Freshman Lindsey Thall had a team-high eight rebounds and senior Merissa Barber-Smith was right behind with seven. Redshirt junior Megan Carter and freshman Hannah Young added six boards each.
Offensively, Carter led the Flashes with 12 points and Dingle had 11 points.
Kent State is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Miami.
