Flashes Finish Runner-Up at Betsy Rawls

AUSTIN, Texas- The No. 6 Kent State women's golf team finished in second place with a 54-hole total of 17-under par 847 at the Betsy Rawls Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club.
Kent State recorded its fourth-straight top-2 finish of the season after the Flashes finished Sunday's final round with a 5-under 283 score. Tournament host Texas used a 15-under final round score that helped the Longhorns jump two spots up the leaderboard and won the tournament at 19-under, while Oklahoma State finished third (-13).
The Flashes had three players finish in the top-15 with senior Pimnipa Panthong leading the way. Panthong recorded a season-best 10-under 206 54-hole total and finished tied for second. In the final round, Panthong carded a 4-under 68 score with four birdies and an eagle. She led the team with 14 total birdies.
Freshman Caley McGinty used four-straight birdies to card an even-par third-round score and finished tied for sixth with a 5-under par 211 score. Sophomore Thitapa Pakdeesettakul carded a 1-under 71 score with the help of four birdies and an eagle on the No. 14 hole in the final round and finished tied for 11th at even-par 216.
Junior Kory Nielsen finished tied for 16th at 1-over 217 for the tournament after she carded an even-par final round score. Nielsen finished the day with four total birdies, three of which were in a row.
Junior Chloe Salort rounded out the lineup with a tied for 30th finish at 5-over 221. She birdied five times and shot a 4-over final round score.
The Flashes wrap up the fall season and return to action Feb. 2-4 as Kent State competes in the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla.
