Flashes Finish Tied for Sixth at Fighting Irish Classic

NOTRE DAME, Ind.- The Kent State University men's golf team secured a top-10 finish on Tuesday at the Fighting Irish Classic.
The Flashes capped a three-round total of 12-over (864) at the par-71, 7,023 yard Warren Golf Course.
Kent State had two top-25 finishers with Cade Breitenstine and Julien Paltrinieri.
Breitenstine finished tied for ninth at 2-under 211. In his final round, he carded an even-par score after he fired three birdies. Breitenstine led the team with 36 pars and had 10 birdies for the tournament. Paltrinieri finished the tournament with a 1-under 212 and tied for 13th. He shot his lowest score in the final round with a 3-under 68. He carded five birdies and was bogey-free on the back-nine.
Will Kurtz mirrored his second-round score in the final round with a 74. He finished tied for 40th with a 221 (+8). Josh Gilkison also carded a 74 in his final round and finished tied for 52nd at 223 (+10).
Jared Wilson rounded out Kent State's lineup and finished tied for 77th at 231 (+18) after he shot an 8-over 79 in the third round.
Kent State returns to action Oct. 21-22 as the Flashes travel to Dallas, Texas for the Royal Oaks Invitational.
