Volleyball Honors Senior Class in Regular Season Finale

KENT, Ohio – Kent State came up a little short in 3-2 loss (22-25, 30-28, 25-22, 23-25, 11-15) to Buffalo on Saturday night. Seniors Myla King and Ashley Makruski were recognized for their contributions to the volleyball program following their last match at the M.A.C. Center.
Both players totaled 12 points on the night. King hit at a .533 clip with nine kills and added six blocks, while Makruski posted 11 kills and a solo block.
The Golden Flashes (14-14, 7-9 MAC) and Bulls went back-and-forth throughout the night, as the match featured 52 ties and 25 lead changes.
Freshman Savannah Matthews led the way with 15 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Danie Tyson added 14 kills with a .480 hitting percentage. Freshman Morgan Copley totaled 11 kills.
Redshirt sophomore Alex Haffner displayed her versatility and finished the night with 55 assists, seven digs, a career-high six blocks and five kills.
Junior Kaeleigh Stang led all players with 17 digs, including eight in the final set. Sophomore Erin Gardner added 10 digs.
Kent State enters next week's Mid-American Conference Volleyball Championship (Nov. 21-24), which will be played in Bowling Green, Ohio, as the No. 8 seed. The Golden Flashes will play fifth-seeded Ohio in a first round match at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
