
Field Hockey Looks to Mid-American Conference Tournament

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State University field hockey team (10-8, 5-1 MAC) turns its sights to the Mid-American Conference Tournament, competing as the No. 1 seed on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. in Oxford, Ohio. Kent State will face Longwood in the semifinals game. The Flashes finished the regular season 5-1 in conference and clinched the MAC regular season championship, falling to only Longwood in the season finale.
Last Time Out
The Flashes concluded the season after dropping to Longwood in a hard fought double overtime game, 2-1. Senior Laila Richter paced Kent State with four shots, while scoring the Flashes only goal. Junior goalkeeper recorded five saves while Clara Rodriguez Seto registered a defensive save.
On the Season
As a team, the Flashes tallied 40 goals on 235 shot attempts in the regular season, drawing 110 corners. The squad is led by Rodriguez Seto with eight goals, eight assists, and six assists, while sophomore Luisa Knapp has scored seven times and assisted one goal.
Senior Laila Richter leads the team and conference with 10 assists and has scored three goals on the season.
The Kent State defense is led by Rodriguez Seto with a conference and team-high six defensive saves on the year. Junior Azure Fernsler has held steady in the cage, recording four shutouts and racking up 70 saves for a .769 save percentage.
MAC Tournament History
Kent State has won the MAC Tournament three of the last five years, falling short of four-consecutive titles in 2017. Kent State fell to Miami in last year's MAC Tournament Championship, 5-3.
