Women’s Hoops Falls in Final Minute After Late Rally

KENT, Ohio – Kent State fought back from a double-digit deficit entering the fourth to tie the game, but Ohio scored the go-ahead basket with 45.1 seconds remaining and left the M.A.C. Center with a 69-67 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (15-9, 8-5 MAC) were unable to connect on a pair of shots on the ensuing possession and suffered their second two-point loss to the No. 10 team in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll this season.
Freshman Lindsey Thall scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Flashes. The 6-2 forward drained six triples while recording six rebounds and three blocks. Redshirt junior Megan Carter added 18 points, which included 3-for-3 on three-point attempts. As a team Kent State shot 11-for-25 (44.0 percent) from downtown.
The Flashes won the rebounding battle, 44-36. Senior Merissa Barber-Smith led the effort on the glass with 11 boards in just 10 minutes off the bench.
Freshman Asiah Dingle recorded six assists to match her career-high. Dingle also totaled nine points and three steals.
Kent State will be back at the M.A.C. Center to host first-place Miami on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
