
Flashes Finish 11th at the General Hackler

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- Senior Bjarki Petursson turned in an even-par score on the third round of play as the Kent State University men's golf team concluded play at the General Hackler Championship with an 11th place finish at 18-over 882 on Tuesday.
Petursson posted his lowest round of even-par to end the three-round event in a tie for 41st with his 54-hole score of 221, 5-over, (75-74-72).
Gisli Sveinbergsson finished tied for 49th for a 54-hole score of 6-over 222. The Senior posted a 3-over 75 score in the final round. Will Kurtz improved from his second round as he finished the day at 1-over 73. Kurtz also tied with teammate Sveinbergsson for the 49th spot at 6-over in the tournament.
Tied for 60th was Johnny Travale who had a three-round total of 8-over 224. Travale fired a final round of 6-over. Rounding out the Flashes' lineup was Josh Gilkison who carded a 4-over 76 score in the final round. Gilkison finished the tournament at 12-over 238.
Chris Doody competed as an individual and carded an even-par third round score. He went 15 holes for par or better and finished the day with three birdies. Doody finished tied for 41st at 5-over 221.
No. 18 North Florida led from start to finish to pick up the tournament win with a 54-hole team score of 843, -21 under par.
No. 6 Wake Forest (848, -16) placed second, while No. 25 Liberty (849, -15), No. 29 Louisville (853, -11) and No. 17 Georgia (854, -10) rounded out the top five on the team leaderboard.
Kent State returns to action March 24-26 in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Tournament in Awendaw, S.C.
