Rough Shooting Performance Results in Road Loss

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Kent State suffered a 62-49 setback to Bowling Green inside of the Stroh Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (16-11, 9-7 MAC) shot 18-for-67 (26.9-percent) from the floor, which included 6-for-30 (20.0-percent) on three-point attempts, and 7-for-17 (41.2-percent) at the free throw line.
Freshman Asiah Dingle led Kent State with 10 points. Senior Alexa Golden had eight points, and redshirt junior Megan Carter and freshman Lindsey Thall were right behind with seven points each.
Trailing 51-42 entering the final period, Carter finished in transition on the Flashes' first possession to get within seven. Kent State went nearly four minutes before scoring again and were unable to get within single-digits the rest of the way.
The Flashes held a 46-45 rebounding advantage. Senior Merissa Barber-Smith pulled down a game-high 12 boards for her third consecutive double-figure rebounding game. Golden grabbed nine rebounds and Thall collected eight. The Flashes totaled 16 offensive rebounds but managed just eight second-chance points.
Freshman Mariah Modkins and Dingle shared the team lead with three assists. Dingle and Thall both blocked two shots.
Kent State will conclude the regular road slate with a short trip to Akron on Wednesday, March 6.
