KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team (0-10) hosts two games this weekend at Dix Stadium, Friday, March 29, at 3 p.m. against Delaware State (1-4) and an ASUN Conference matchup on Sunday, March 31, against Howard (0-5).
The Golden Flashes are still in search of their first program win, and they will look to do so this weekend in front of a home crowd.
The Flashes' offense is led by Megan Kozar, who leads the team with 21 goals and 27 total points. She tallied a program-record seven goals against Detroit Mercy on March 16.
Abby Jones is another key contributor for the Flashes, ranking in the top-three on the team in goals (16), assists (10), points (26), shots on goal (32), ground balls (18), caused turnovers (11) and draw controls (24). Jones recorded the first goal in Kent State lacrosse history against Cincinnati on Feb. 10.
Lluna Katz is third on the team with 14 goals, including the first lacrosse goal in Dix Stadium history against Robert Morris on Feb. 16.
Meghan Cawood leads the Flashes with 25 draw controls, while Melissa Beall and Jones each have 11 caused turnovers. Alyssa Monroe is second on the team with 21 ground balls, while adding seven caused turnovers.
In goal for Kent State is team captain Grace Merrill. She has been a difference maker in goal for the Flashes, ranking third in the country with 122 saves and fourth in the country with 12.2 saves per game. The Canton, Ohio native recorded a career-high 20 saves against Saint Francis (Pa.) on March 20.
Scouting Delaware State
The Hornets earned their only win of the season in a 14-11 contest against Howard on March 22. A season ago, Delaware State went 0-13.
The Delaware State offense is led by Olivia Summerville (6g), Tamrin Swann (5g, 1a) and Emily McGill (5g, 1a). The trio has accounted for 16 of the Hornets' 26 goals on the season, including eight against Howard.
The Hornets are led in goal by Portia Wiggins, who has 22 saves on the season and a 1-2 record.
Scouting Howard
Howard is winless on the season so far and has two losses against opponents also on Kent State's schedule. The Bison fell to the Hornets, 14-11, and also to Gardner-Webb, 21-5.
The Bison offense is led by Jillian Jones (8g, 1a) and Lailah Robey (6g, 1a). They are led in goal by Andrea Feivre, who has recorded 39 saves in four games this season.

After the home stand, Kent State will head to Florida for a two-game ASUN Conference road trip against Stetson on April 5 and Jacksonville on April 7. The Flashes will return home on April 11 to take on Kennesaw State.
