ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The Kent State women's golf team wrapped up a dominant performance at the Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational earning its first tournament win of the season on Tuesday at the New Mexico Championship Golf Course.
"What a way to start the season," said head coach Lisa Strom. "This crew got off to a fast start this morning and never looked back. I'm so proud of the seniors on how they played and going back-to-back team champions is no easy task."
Kent State won the tournament with a 16-under par 848 score (283-287-278), defeating the second-place Pepperdine by seven strokes. Iowa State and Ole Miss tied for third at 2-under.
Kent State had three golfers finish in the top-10 with Senior Karoline Stormo highlighting the Flashes' lineup.
Stormo finished second in the tournament at 7-under 209 (68-73-68). She posted the team's lowest third-round score of 68 and fired six birdies. Stormo led the tournament in par-3 and par-5 scoring and finished with 14 birdies.

"Having Caley step right into the lineup and make a statement is huge for her confidence and our team."
Junior Kory Nielsen finished tied for 17th at 2-over 218 after carding a 1-under 71 score. She went -3 in her last seven holes to help push past Pepperdine.
"Kory did a great job finishing strong today, she was -3 in her last seven holes and that helped our team separate from Pepperdine down the stretch."

Kent State led the tournament in four categories; par-3 scoring (-3), par-5 scoring (-15), pars (183), and in birdies (48).
"Winning doesn't come easy in college golf. We are going to enjoy this one for a couple of days and get back to work as we prepare for the Mercedes-Benz."
The Flashes will look to build on this win at the Mercedes Intercollegiate Sept. 16-17 in Knoxville, Tenn.
