Flashes Open MAC Play at Home Against Ohio

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State field hockey team (4-5) opens MAC play against Ohio (4-1, 1-0) on Saturday, Sept. 27 at noon on Murphy-Mellis Field.
The Flashes stand 4-5 after dropping both games on the road to No. 8 Iowa (5-1) and No. 9 Michigan. Kent State's lone goal came off a pass from the right side of the field. A pass from Sydney Washburn set up a Claudia Ortiz goal, her third of the season.
FLASHES PICKED SECOND IN MAC PRESEASON POLL
The Flashes were tabbed to finish second in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll and received one first-place vote and one vote to win the MAC Tournament Championship. Last season, Kent State finished 8-12 overall and 5-1 in MAC play before falling to Miami in the MAC Tournament Championship match.

The Bobcats have scored 18 goals through their first six games of the 2019 season, compared to the eight goals through their first six games during the 2018 campaign.

Kent State holds a 50-26 all-time series advantage over Ohio. Last season, Kent State defeated Ohio, 2-1, at Pruitt Field.
